Decorated Slate
(Park Farm, Pitt Meadows, B.C.)
This illustration displays a decorated fragment of slate displaying incised patterns on both faces. Shown are curving and intersecting ribbed line designs of varying width. The upper margin has been ground smooth, while the lower has been repetitively notched lending it a
serrated appearance. This artifact and similar specimens have been recovered from sites dated to the St. Mungo phase (4400 – 3100 B.P.) in the Fraser Valley.
